Lead Mediator Michael Chastain

Michael Chastain is one of our mediation and arbitration specialists for Crossroads. Mr. Chastain has been actively involved in the court system since 2001 and has applied this extensive experience to his mediation and arbitration practice. This experience gives Mr. Chastain a unique insight concerning the benefits of utilizing mediation or arbitration in comparison to the traditional litigation process. His conviction about the value of mediation and arbitration, combined with his extensive experience is a true asset to those who choose to utilize his services.

Over the years, Mr. Chastain has been a strong proponent of the mediation process. During his time working in the court system, he has personally witnessed what a valuable tool mediation is. His strong conviction about the benefits of mediation began when he personally observed a 15-year-old case successfully mediate after years of litigation. The parties involved in the case had spent well over $100,000 in attorney’s fees to litigate their case, but to everyone’s surprise, they were able to reach an agreement within 8 hours of mediation.

Mr. Chastain’s primary focus of his mediation practice is all aspects of domestic law, including divorce, child custody, child support, legitimation, and child custody and child support modification actions. Mr. Chastain also has extensive experience in Probate Court matters, and he routinely mediates all other types of civil matters, including business law and employment law.

Mr. and Mrs. Chastain prioritize serving every child and family in the most thorough and compassionate manner. While serving as the GAL for a contested custody case, they strive to educate families on the importance of healthy co-parenting, including providing tools and resources that help prepare co-parents and step-families to work together toward shared goals and conflict resolution. Most importantly, they prioritize child advocacy and shielding children from the negative impacts of high-conflict co-parenting and litigation
